This interactive artwork at BOOM fuses art and data, using advanced technology and the Lorenz attractor to illustrate data's impact on our lives. The immersive, interactive installation connects daily behavior with cosmic events, prompting reflection on data's profound influence

Riccardo Mantelli, in collaboration with London-based studio Universe Everywhere, presents an interactive artwork that merges the world of data with that of art. The data sculpture, to be displayed at BOOM, shows a visual representation of data and how it impacts our daily lives. This installation is created using advanced technologies, including projections, lights, and sounds, to create a generative, synesthetic, and engaging immersive experience for the audience. Utilizing variants of the Lorenz attractor, known to many for the butterfly effect, the installation demonstrates how small initial variations can have significant consequences on future behavior. The audience can interact with the work by moving around the space, touching the displayed data, and sensing its effect on their daily lives. Moreover, the installation opens up like a window to the universe, capturing celestial events and intertwining cosmic data with the collected ones, generating a chromatic dance and a unique experience.

The floor represents the connection between data and our behaviors. When entering the installation area, a camera and sensors detect the visitor's presence, and a stream of light particles begins to flow on the floor. These particles represent the data that surround and influence us in everyday life. The installation is not just to be observed, but also to be interacted with using one's body. Walking on the floor, one comes into contact with a stream of particles representing data. This interaction helps us better understand how data surrounds us and influences our daily lives. The goal of the installation is to reflect on the theme of data and their importance in our lives, highlighting how data acquisition has been an activity that humans have always done since the beginning of history.

The walls of the installation represent the connection between our world and the cosmos. The projections on the side parts of the walls show different explorations of the mathematical figure called "Lorenz attractor," which is at the origin of the term "butterfly effect" in chaos theory. This effect refers to the fact that even a small disturbance can have significant consequences in a complex and dynamic system, such as meteorology, finance, biology, psychology, and sociology. The invitation that the installation makes is to explore its importance and reflect on how even small decisions and actions can have cascading consequences throughout our world and beyond.

The installation changes based on the position of the planets!

Incorporeal things - such as qualities,
configurations, equality ...
relationships, dispositions ...
correspondences, times ... -
are by their very essence immutable
and invariable,
but they can eventually participate
in vicissitudes. of the bodies
to which they refer.
It is the immaterial,
eternal things that constitute
the true reality.
A purely immaterial number-idea
but constituting the true
eternal essence.
Thus the times, the motions,
the heavens, the stars
and all the cycles of
all things were created.
